Faculty Seminar Meetings: Fourth Monday, 2:30-4:00pm
All meetings, unless otherwise indicated, will be in W-6-94. This is the large seminar room (turn left out of the elevators and left after the double glass doors).
Talk titles and pre-circulated readings will be sent by email and file attachment to the RCUCH listserv 1-2 weeks prior to each meeting. If you would like to attend and are not on the listserv, you can request readings by emailing elizabeth.fay@umb.edu

The Flaherty Award of the RCUCH
The Research Center for Urban Cultural History (RCUCH) invites students engaged in the study of cities, urban cultures, urban spaces, urban populations and urban representations to submit their project for The Flaherty Award. The prize will be awarded to the best undergraduate work in one of the above topics completed during the current academic year. The prize amount is $500. Interdisciplinary or multi-disciplinary approaches will be given preference. Projects may take the form of academic research or engage an urban community in a variety of ways. Projects might be realized as essays, websites, performances, art work, creative writing, reports of community activism, or exhibitions. They might be produced for a class, as a thesis project, for the public, for a specific community, independent studies, or in conjunction with community participation. Projects will be reviewed by an RCUCH prize committee. The RCUCH encourages all students engaged in urban cultural history work to consider submitting their work, and the RCUCH asks all faculty overseeing such projects to encourage their students to submit their projects for consideration.
Guidelines for submissions: Contact uch@umb.edu for the cover sheet or download cover sheet to accompany your submission; Submissions should be dropped off or sent to: RCUCH, Wheatley Building, 6 th fl, rm. 45 (emailed submissions can be sent to uch@umb.edu).
Essays: not to exceed 25 pages sent to RCUCH office along with cover sheet; emailed essays and cover sheets will also be accepted; Performance: video or video file of 45 minutes max., to be sent to the RCUCH office along with cover sheet; Reports: not to exceed 25 pages sent to RCUCH office along with cover sheet; emailed reports and cover sheets will also be accepted; Art work, creative writing or exhibition: send cover sheet and a copy of creative writing piece or original art work to RCUCH office, or where relevant, provide details on the cover sheet on how and where judges may view the art work/exhibition; Website: send cover sheet to RCUCH office with the url of the project website.
